The Session:

Kingston Seymour is a mark I've intended to fish for over a year so I decided while the wind made marks closer to home unfishable I would give this place a go. I had also been ill over the week so I wanted to get out somewhere as long as it wasn't too difficult to get to.

The walk to the mark wasn't too long but it may put some people off when coupled with the restricted parking. Once I was on the wall I looked around and as it was my first time I settled on walking left until I was past the boulders that align some of the wall so I wouldn't have anything impeding my casts or retrieves, especially if I hooked a fish. The water wasn't anywhere near me yet so I took my time setting up and even before I had water below me I could cast into another angler had turned up and was fishing over the boulders before I was fishing.

I made the first few casts by walking down the slope of the wall, which looked slippy but was not and there were plenty of flat bits to put my feet each step I took so it wasn't too much of a struggle getting back up. I only had one 5oz weight so I expected to only be able to fish one rod but when I tried a 4oz one it held in the tide just fine. I was casting each rod as far as I could at first, so getting the bait around 70 yards, but then trying a bit closer later on, maybe 40 to 50 yards.

Not a single fish took my bait and neither did a crab. Despite this I still enjoyed the new location and I was able to see from how high up the wall the tide reached what size tides would be fishable in future. When I pa cked up the other angler was doing so too and he told me he never had a single bite either so I settled on it just being a night where no fish were around, rather than I was in a poor spot. I will be back to try again but due to the location and lack of proper parking it might be a while.
