The Session: A friend was visiting me from the Midlands and he had just bought a lure rod and wanted to fish somewhere down the South West. The weather in South Devon looked better than North Devon so we chose to spend a day in Brixham. We arrived at the platform in the afternnon. There was a couple of anglers fishing from the front of the platform so we went to the right hand side. We both began with our lure rods and I also cast out a float rod to see if anything would take live ragwom here. I soon left the lure fishing as it became clear that there was an abundance of small pollock and wrasse about 10ft down along side the old offices that sit by the right hand side of the platform. I went deeper as the tide rose a bit and occasionally snagged but never lost any tackle. There was no pattern to the fish I caught, or how they took the float under, it was just almost non-stop action with the float going under probably even as the bait was still being pulled down by the weight. I missed as many bites as I hooked and lost a few fish aswell. I don't think any would have been bigger than what I landed. My friend continued to lure fish and at one time saw a seal under the water. Unfortunately he didn't catch anything but not much else was being caught by other anglers who turned up after us so it appeared just the smaller fish were around. It was an enjoyable 3 hours and probably was the highest number of fish I've caught in a short session.
