Weather: Rather cold and foggy. The fog felt like light rain.
Sea: Fairly murky, small swell but with the odd large surge..
Method: Homemade pulley rig with rotten bottom
Bait: Frozen squid segments
Caught (weight): 1 Dogfish (1lbs 0oz, Guessed)
The Session: Thinking the sea would be just a little calmer and the fog wouldn't be so low I thought I'd just pop out for a few hours. I only set up one rod and cast it around 40 yards or so with a segment of frozen squid. It wasn't long before the tip of the rod was registering small bites but I could not connect with anything. Eventually though a dogfish gave a solid pull and felt larger than it was when I was reeling it in. Almost immediately after re-casting another dogfish took the bait. This one fell off the hook as I went to lift it out of the water and strangely it appeared to be mesmerised by my headlight for a minute or two as it swam around within the patch of light with its head out of the water. Another couple of bites followed but I didn't hook them and shortly after I packed up which was really because I should have worm warmer clothes and the fog was annoying me a bit.
