The Session:

I popped down to my local pier for a float fishing session over high tide. I began with my flat set at around 14 feet deep and set it deeper over the last hour of the rising tide. I didn't have to wait long for a bite from the pollock and the second one came very shortly after. There was around two hours where I didn't get a single bite and after one fish the bites were sporadic until the light began to fade, with me also missing more than I hooked. I spent some time talking to a few local and non-local anglers while I waited for a shoal of pollock to arrive.

I had moved along the pier once the lower part was dry and began fishing over on the far left side, up on the rocks. The bites began to occur regularly and over the last half an hour with me catching most of the fish during this time. Due to my mackerel bait being a bit squishy I had gone through a whole fish with a lot of the strips falling off within a cast or two, so I wished I had brought more because I could have happily fished for another hour or two.
