The Session:
I wanted to get out this week just because the previous weekend had bad weather so I chose my local Pier thinking it would give me some shelter from the strong wind.
I set up the distance ledger first and cast it around 80 yards straight out. Then the float rod went out with the depth at around 15 feet, followed by the flapper rig at around 50 yards and finally the running ledger for Conger which I dropped down the edge.
It was very slow with barely noticable bites on the ledger and nothing on the float until I had a small Pouting on the flapper rig and an even smaller one half an hour later. The wind direction had changed by this time though and it was getting stronger too. I put up with it as long as I could and decided to pack up after it blew my float rod off the railings and onto the floor.
Another angler had been and gone by the time I packed up and two had just arrived when I was driving off.
