The Session:

I set up on the lower part of the pier and began with the depth of my float rod set at 8 feet. I just dropped the float down in between the wooden struts and continued to do this while increasing the depth as the sea level rose.

It was quite slow going, I missed a couple of bites before I hooked the first fish. They appeared to be cautious takes so the float had only dipped below the surface and came back up before I reacted. I had put it down to the fish being tiny but when I landed the first one it was a little larger than the usual size for this pier. Then I waited half an hour for the next bite. All the fish I caught then were in fairly quick succession with the last one at half past 8. I gave it 45 minutes more before I packed up. It was only a short planned session anyway but I expected to have a few more by the time I went home and I would have stayed into darkness if I had.
