The Session: I intended to do some feathering for mackerel to see if any were around yet but began with the float rod set up. It was set at around 10ft deep. It wasn't long before the first few bites came but they were small, quick pulls. The first fish came after around 1 hour and it was a nice fish that was hooked right in the top lip. From then on I had a steady stream of bites, some were not the usual hard pulls but bites that hardly pulled the float under, but the fish obviously holding on to the bait. I managed 5 more pollock up to1lb and a poor cod that had brighter markings than previous ones I'd caught. I only ahd a coupel of casts with the mackerel feathers so didn't really count that as an attempt.
