Weather: Overcast with a little sunshine and periods of rain. A steady breeze.
Sea: Very choppy and murky with a large swell of 8ft or more.

The Session: I fished a local pier over high tide and set up by the car park to fish the remaining 3 hours up to high and then move for the remaining few hours. I I cast teh pulley rig far over to the other side of the harbour and the flapper just a few yards from the pier. Bites came on the flapper rig from the first cast but they were mostly small fish and unhookable, but I managed a pouting and then the next cast showed no bite for a while. When it did it was a bold bite and as I struck I could tell it was a better fish. I was surprised to see a small Cod on the end and estimated it to be around 2lb at most. More bites followed that I was unable to hook except for one other unlucky Pouting. The bites slowed right down afterwards and I ended up taking pictures of the water as it sprayed up and ran over the pier by the side of me. After I moved along the pier when the tide receded a bit I failed to get any bites I could strike at. I packed up at 10pm, but not displeased at catching a cod today.
