Sea: Very choppy with a large swell of around 4ft and quite murky.

The Session: There were a few anglers fishing when I arrived but some packed up shortly after and so I moved about on the lower part of the pier casting various distances and dropping the float down below the rod tip and at depths between 6 and 12 foot . It wasn't until I was joined by a friend and we moved to the bottom of the main steps that the first bite and fish came. My friend caught a larger fish shortly afterwards and I caught another not long after that. Here I had cast out the prawn trap with a mackerel head, squid and peeler crab in, and upon a retrieve a large edible crab, with no claws was inside. The tide soon began to come up the steps so we moved on to the top part of the pier and fished from over the chains, casting a few yards and still around 10 ft deep. I had 5 bites but 3 fell off the hook and I only landed two of them. The last half hour we had nothing and at 22:20 we realised it was past the time we had planned to fish to so we packed up.
