Weather: Clear sky with a full moon and good visibility. A gentle wind straight in my face.
Sea: Clear, small waves but rolling for 60 yards or so, increasing to 80 yards or more after low tide.

The Session: I was hopeful upon arriving although I feel I should have gone to the other end of the beach at Woolacombe. There were already other anglers there and the sea looked right enough for there to be bass and rays around. Unfortunately the session was rather poor. I cast both rods over the back of the breakers and every cast ended up with large amounts of weed on the line weight and hooks. Sometimes the weed was so heavy it took me a good 5 minutes to pull it in. I stuck it out because I thought that the situation would change after the tide turns but it did not. The weed became less but it still came back with the bait each time. I decided to pack up after giving it 4 hours by which time the other anglers had long gone too. A dissapointing session and conditions (big tide and head-on wind) which possibly should have been an indication to have not fished there.
