The Session: I went to my local pier to see if any Ray were still around and it had been a good year for them for me. I set up on the lower pier and cast out two ledger rods, one with a pulley rig and one with a flapper rig. I cast them both around 60-80 yards over the session. I also set up a float rod and fished it close in and put out a prawn trap.

It was quite a slow evening with barely any bites on the ledger rods and just two bites on the float rod as light was beginning to fade, and both fish were pollock of the typical size for here. I brought in the prawn trap lots of times but all I had in it was a couple of rockling over the 6 hours. I stuck it out until after midnight when the tide was close to coming over the pier again and then I packed up, wondering if it could mean the Ray had moved away again now.
