The Session:

A friend was visiting and so we had a short session on my local pier. We didn't do very well and neither did any other anglers while we were there.

We both had a float setup to start with and my friend, Steve, had his lure rod. I intended to take my lure rod but forgot it. We began at depths of over 15 feet and went a bit shallower over the session as the sea level dropped but we failed to get any noticable bites.

Eventually I decided to remove the float and put back on the weight and hook and chuck a larger strip of Mackerel out across the lower pier at around 15 yards out. Half an hour or more later, I went to reel in, found I was snagged but pulled free and discovered a Rockling on the end. That was the highlight of the trip. Eventually the sky darkened and it began raining and looked like it wasn't going to stop so we packed up.
