The Session: I arrived earlier to see if breaking the 2 hour down rule would pay off and after casting out both rods at a distance of around 60 yards the one baited with sandeel showed a bite which quickly developed into a solid pull and self-hooking fish. It wasn't huge but gave me confidence it could be a good night as I had only been fishing for 15 minutes. It was about all that happend on that rod though and it wasn't until two hours later when I had a bite on the squid which I missed and then another bite on the next cast which I hooked and was an even smaller, but very welcome fish. The clouds cleared shortly after and the moon was bright. I gave it two more hours and then packed up thinking I might try even earlier in the receeding tide on my next trip.
