The Session: I hadn''t been back to Putsborough for a while and I realised that this evening conditions seemed ideal for this beach. When I arrived there were already some anglers fishing and so I walked until I was around 100 yards from one of them, which was not quite as far as the third from last house.
I set up both rods and waded out just over knee deep to cast them out. I left them for varying times to ensure I covered some distance and also quite close in as the sea receeded. It didn''t matter what I did though I had no bites at all that I saw. Most times the bait came back whole with just a few possibly taken by a crab or a fish that never registered on the rod tip. After 3 and a half hours without a bite I decided to pack up after leaving my last cast on each rod for an hour while the tide came in and I reeled in, counting around 180 turns of the handle, to find the bait on each one looking untouched.
